Instruction for preparation and application.
During the processing of dry mortar mixes DENSOFIX SF it is generally necessary to comply with the principles contained in the relevant technological process BETOSAN for repair of reinforced concrete structures (TP No.1/06).
Base. Any incoherent, loose or weatherworn particles and dust shall be completely removed from the surface of the repaired base. The concrete surface cannot be contaminated by substances negatively affecting adhesion to the base (fats, greases, oils, etc.). Rinsing with pressure water is the best method for necessary complete removal of any dust from the entire repaired surface before application.
Preparation of spread coating. The spread coating is prepared by simple mixing with water. The recommended mixing ratio is as follows:
Dry component (kg) | Water (litres) | Thickness of applied layer (mm) | ||
DENSOFIX SF | 25 | 4.50 ÷ 5.00 | min. 1 | max. 3 |
Workability of the product is 50 – 60 minutes under 20 °C.
Neither temperature of base nor temperature of ambient air shall be below + 5 °C and above + 30 °C.
DENSOFIX SF spread coating is applied either mechanically or manually. Manual application means finning off. The spread coating is applied in one layer whose thickness should not exceed value specified in the above table. Surfaces coated with the spread coating shall be efficiently protected against direct sunshine and wind.
Surface finalization. After initial setting of the spread coating smoothing by a dry polyurethane or polystyrene
finisher is used for surfacing.
Surface treatment. Repaired surfaces must be properly treated immediately after completion to avoid especially direct exposure to sun, wind effect and other factors accelerating undesirable evaporation of the batch water. Use of the following treatment agents DENSOCURE W and DENSOCURE R proved well. It is desirable to properly moisten the repaired places several times a day for min. 7 days following the repair
Specific consumption
Specific consumption of dry mortar is 1.6 to 1.7 kg/m2 at 1 mm of layer thickness.

Supervision of the quality system, EMS and OHSAS is carried out by Notified Body No. 1020.
Instruction for preparation and application.
Base
Any incoherent, loose, weatherworn or otherwise visibly damaged concrete shall be completely removed from the repaired concrete surface before application. The concrete surface cannot be contaminated by substances negatively effecting adhesion to the base (fats, greases, oils, etc.). Tensile strength of concrete surface layers shall be 1.5 MPa at least. Corroded reinforcement shall be carefully released and cleaned of any corrosive products (min. degree Sa1½ according to ČSN EN ISO 12944-4). The base must be perfectly moistened before the application of the adhesive bridge. If the base cannot be moistened, it is necessary to apply priming coat.
Preparation of adhesive bridge has two steps. The first step is the preparation of the priming solution, which shall be applied to reduce absorbability of the base in cases it can’t be properly moistened. Priming solution is prepared by mixing 0.5 liters of the liquid component with water in the ratio ranging between 1 : 5 and 1 : 8 in dependence on porosity and base quality (dense quality concrete requests higher dilution!). The adhesive bridge DENSOCRETE 111 itself is prepared in sufficiently voluminous vessel by proper mixing of 25kg of dry component and 7.5 kg (7.5 liters) of liquid component. Most suitable is to use an electrically driven propeller agitator. Consistency can be adjusted by adding up to 10% water, if needed.
In case of smaller size packaging the stated quantities are 10 x less.
Workability. Workability of the prepared adhesive bridge is 90 minutes under 20 °C and relative humidity 50-70 %. The prepared composition shall be efficiently protected against desiccation. Neither temperature of the base nor temperature of ambient air shall be below +5 °C and above +30 °C.
Adhesion bridge application. Before application of the adhesive bridge DENSOCRETE 111 it is necessary to thoroughly moisten the base (see above). If it is not practicable and base is excessively dry or absorbent, it is required for the surface to be coated with priming coat. The surface is primed by solution prepared by the above-mentioned process i.e. by diluting the liquid component with water in the ratio 1:5 up to 1:8 in dependence on porosity and the base quality. In cases of extraordinary absorbent and dry bases the priming can be repeated (two or three times) with technological break of at least 120 minutes between each coat layer. Priming coat shouldn’t create a glossy film on the concrete surface. Application of the adhesive bridge itself should be performed on a primed base with a technological break from 120 minutes to 24 hours after the priming. If DENSOCRETE 111 is used as corrosion protection of reinforcement, the second layer shall be applied with a technological break ranging from 1 hour to 6 hours after the first one but directly before application of a repair mortar so that the mortar is applied into the moistened bridge. The process is the same if it is used as an adhesive bridge. DENSOCRETE 111 is applied on the primed surface of the repaired construction so that thickness of the applied layer ranges approximately between 0.5 and 1.0 mm. The repair mortar or freshly laid concrete is applied, without delay, into the applied adhesive bridge. Open time. After application on the construction the so-called open time of the adhesive bridge is max. 30 minutes under 20°C and relative humidity 50 – 70 %. It is necessary to take into account that the possible application period of the mortar or new concrete is reduced with increasing temperature and reducing relative humidity.
Open time. After application on the construction the so-called open time of the adhesive bridge is max. 30 minutes under 20°C and relative humidity 50 – 70 %. It is necessary to take into account that the possible application period of the mortar or new concrete is reduced with increasing temperature and reducing relative humidity.
Specific consumption
Specific consumption of the adhesive bridge amounts to 0.6 ÷ 1.2 kg/m2 in dependence on surface roughness and absorbability.

ASFOTEX cold patch asphalt mix marketed in bags is affordable and enables permanent repair of potholes. Installation is simple and anyone can do it.
ASFOTEX is high quality cold patch asphalt mix, which enables quick patching of potholes in asphalt covering irrespective of weather conditions. Suitable for repairing concrete or asphalt covering of driveways, parking lots, pavements, roads and ramp, etc. Provides a good solution if two different coverings have to be joined, e.g. near street wells, or as a strip between the old asphalt covering and the installed concrete pavement stones, etc.
ASFOTEX is a durable filler mix for permanent installation – there is no need for the double installation of the traditional, temporary and weather-dependant milled asphalt or
emulsion-based cold asphalt and final hot-installed asphalt. Installation of Asfotex is simple and quick, no big expenses on labour or machinery are required.
After installation the road can immediately be opened for traffic. Post-settlement takes about one week. The mix may be used at temperatures below zero and remains flexible and coherent even at – 26 °C. It retains its adhesive quality also in wet conditions.
The cold-installed mix sold in 20 kg bags is easy to use in winter, when asphalt factories are closed, and in the summer season. As a rule one 20 kg bag is used to patch a hole, which area is 0.33 m2 and depth 5cm. If the hole is deeper, e.g. 15 cm, the mix is installed in 5 cm layers, which are tightened correspondingly.
1. Before repair. 2. Remove debris, ice or water from the hole to improve tacking. 3. Pour the mix into the cleaned hole straight from the bag. 4. Level out the surface with a spade or a rake, so that the level of the mix remains a little bit above the road surface. 5. Tighten the levelled mix with a plate-vibrator or by driving a car over it. 6. After repair.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which equipment is necessary for the installation of Asfotex?
No special equipment is required for the installation of Asfotex. You need a hard brush, a broom or a spade; a metal rake is recommended; ideally tightened surface is accomplished if you use a plate-vibrator.
May Asfotex be installed at temperatures below zero?
Asfotex is cold-installed asphalt mix based on solvent and diesel fuel and contains no water. Therefore, the mix may be used at temperatures below zero.
If you have bought a bag of Asfotex but do not use it at once or some bag just remains unused – how long can the material be stored?
In a closed bag for 2 years. If you have opened the bag, close it tightly with a tape, so that the solvent and diesel fuel cannot evaporate.
How to prepare the hole in asphalt for the installation of Asfotex?
First, clean the hole with a hard brush or a broom from loose debris to achieve better tacking with the surface. No prior impregnation is required.
May Asfotex be installed on a wet surface?
Yes, it may – this is the biggest advantage of the cold-installed asphalt mix.
How to clean tools?
All tools must be cleaned right after usage with a solvent-based cleanser.
When can you drive over the patched hole?
Traffic may be opened right away.
